Concordia University welcomes
applicants from all parts of Canada, the United States and abroad. In keeping with the
general principles accepted by all Québec universities, the policy of Concordia is that
admission is open to any qualified applicant, in the program of his or her choice, within
the limits of its resources. In general, the qualification for entry is the level of
secondary education required to apply for university studies in the home province, state
or country. In addition, various programs require prerequisite courses (profiles). For
example, applicants to the Bachelor of/Baccalaureate in Science, Engineering or Computer
Science programs should have senior secondary school courses in mathematics and other
sciences. Those applying to the Bachelor of/Baccalaureate in Commerce or Administration
degrees require a background in mathematics. Other programs (e.g. visual or performing
arts, journalism, creative writing, etc.) require portfolios, interviews, and/or letters
of intent. For full details on program prerequisites and availability, refer to the
specific Admission Requirements section of each program.
(http://websis.concordia.ca/Admissions/deg_browse.htm) Entry Dates
September is the normal point of entry for undergraduate studies. Entry in January or the
summer session may be possible in certain programs, where places are available. January
entry may require undertaking courses in the subsequent summer session. International
students who are currently studying in Canada may be considered for admission in January.
The Faculty of Commerce and Administration has a rolling
international admission process whereby applications completed too late to be processed
for a given session will automatically be considered for the following entry period.
Program Length
Regular Program
Because students in the province of Québec must complete a minimum of 13 years of study
prior to entering university, the duration of a regular degree program is normally three
years (90 credits). The Bachelor of/Baccalaureate in Engineering, Bachelor
of/Baccalaureate in Arts (Early Childhood and Elementary Education), Bachelor
of/Baccalaureate in Education (TESL), and Bachelor of/Baccalaureate in Fine Arts
(Specialization in Art Education) degree programs are four years in length.
Extended Credit Program (ECP)
Graduates of secondary schools outside the province of Québec may be considered for
admission to the Extended Credit Program (ECP) at Concordia. The ECP requires completion
of 30 credits in addition to the regular degree program.
Mature Entry Program (MEP)
Concordia has a long tradition of service to adult and part-time clienteles and this
service remains a vital part of its mission. Canadians and Permanent Residents who are 21
years of age or older and who lack the normal pre-university schooling may still be
considered for admission to the Mature Entry Program (MEP), which requires successful
completion of a minimum of 18 additional credits. Mature entrants must meet certain
conditions, which are outlined in the Admission Requirements
section.
