The following qualifications
are the minimums required for consideration and do not guarantee admission to the
University or its programs.

Mature Students
If you are 21 or older but lack the normally required pre-university schooling, it may
still be possible for you to work towards a university degree or certificate at Concordia.
Normally, mature entrants without any cégep or equivalent must complete at least 18
credits of preparatory or complementary courses, in addition to the regular 90-credit
program. These additional credits are intended to help mature entrants to prepare for
their subsequent studies. Students with partial cégep or equivalent may be given advanced
standing for some of the additional 18 credits. In every other respect, however, you will
be considered and treated as a regular undergraduate student.
To advise and assist both prospective and enrolled students in
dealing with academic requirements and other problems, the University maintains a Mature
Student Centre. The Centres academic advisers help mature students plan individual
programs based on their personal goals and interests, and generally help older students
adjust to University life.
Admission as a mature entrant is subject to the following conditions:
- You must have reached the age of 21 by August 1, December 1 or April 1 of a given year,
to enter the University in the following September, January or May respectively.
- Although not meeting the normal academic requirements for admission (Québec Diploma of
Collegial Studies or the equivalent), you must satisfy the University that you have the
potential to undertake undergraduate courses.
- You must have been out of school -- that is not engaged in full-time study -- for at
least 24 months since attaining the age of 18. If you have been out of school for only 12
months, you may also be admissible provided that you have not had an unfavourable academic
record in the previous 24 months.
- You must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident (Landed Immigrant), or Convention
Refugee.
Required Documents
You must submit a birth certificate or other acceptable proof of age, together with all
scholastic records and any material which may indicate your ability to pursue university
studies.
Transfer from
Colleges/Universities
Transfer applicants are considered on the basis of both their university and previous
studies. If you are transferring from another accredited university, you will be
considered for an appropriate level of placement within the undergraduate program at this
University. Credit may be awarded for university-level courses that are equivalent to
Concordia courses and appropriate to the program to which you are applying. However, the
evaluation of transfer credit cannot be made until a formal application and all necessary
supporting documents have been received.
There are, however, some special conditions attached to the
granting of transfer credits. The number of credits awarded depends on the character,
quality and quantity of the work completed. A minimum of 45 credits must be taken at
Concordia University for all Bachelor/Baccalaureate degrees except that of the Bachelor
of/Baccalaureate in Engineering, where the minimum is 60 credits. Unless otherwise
authorized by the Faculty to which the student has been admitted, these will be the last
45 credits (or the last 60 in the case of the Bachelor of/Baccalaureate in Engineering).
