Admission Requirements for the PhD in Nursing Program

Completion of an NLN accredited master's program in nursing or baccalaureate degree in nursing; satisfactory completion of graduate-level basic statistics and intermediate analysis of variance; grade point average of 3.25 or above in the nursing master's program or 3.5 or above in the BSN program; score of 1500 on the three-part Graduate Record Exam (GRE); potential for leadership and scholarship in nursing; potential for a research match with a faculty member.
PhD Admission Process Guidelines The completed application materials must be received in the School of Nursing, Office of Student Affairs, by March 1 for fall admission and September 1 for spring admission. Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores must be submitted as part of the application. A GRE booklet may be obtained from the School of Nursing Student Affairs Office, from the counseling department of your nearest university, or Educational Testing Service, Box 955, Princeton, NJ 28544. When materials are received, they will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee. The most highly qualified applicants will be invited for interviews. An interview is required in order to complete the selection process. At the time of the interview, each applicant will be asked to spend one hour writing a response to one of three general questions related to nursing. The entire process from deadline date to admission should be completed in about eight weeks. | ||
