Undergraduate Application Instructions
All applicants should follow the procedures listed below in order to complete the Pace University application process. Please be sure that you complete all parts of the application to ensure that our admission committee has all of the information that they need to make their decision. If any parts are missing, your application cannot be processed.

  1. Complete all information fields, click submit and remit a $45.00 non-refundable application fee.
  2. Arrange to have an official high school transcript sent to the Application Processing Center at the address below. Applicants who have received the General Equivalency Diploma (GED) should submit a notarized copy of their diploma and test scores.
  3. Submit two letters of recommendation from a faculty member, counselor or an individual who knows you well and can describe your academic potential and personal characteristics. Please have them include your social security number on your recommendation.
  4. A personal statement is suggested but not required. You may submit an essay on a subject of your choice or one of the following topics:
    • A discussion of a personal, local or national issue
    • An autobiographical account
    • A representative sample of creative ability
  5. An additional essay discussing your community service activity must be submitted by students interested in the Carl and Lily Pforzheimer Foundation Endowed Scholarship Fund.

Prior to beginning the online application process we recommend you prepare the following:
  1. A personal statement/essay on a subject of your choice or one of the following topics:
    a representative sample of creative ability, a discussion of a local or national issue, or an autobiographical account.
Requirements in order to process your application request:
  1. You will need to provide us with a valid e-mail address in order to send you a confirmation message and final application instructions.
  2. Prepare to receive an e-mailed file attachment containing critical documents required to complete your application for admission. These documents include our official Recommendation Form to be printed and used to submit letters of recommendation as well as other useful forms that will help you complete the admission process.

Freshman Applicants
Application Deadline form Freshman: March 1

In addition to completing the online application, you will need to take either the SAT I of the College Entrance Examination Board or the American College Test (ACT) administered by the American College Testing Program. Students who have been out of high school for over a year do not need to submit SAT I or ACT scores. SAT II examinations in a foreign language are recommended.

The SAT I code for the New York City campus is 2635 and the Pleasantville/Briarcliff campus is 2685. The ACT code for the New York City campus is 2852 and the Pleasantville/Briarcliff campus is 2855.

Please enter your score(s) in your application in the appropriate field or have an official report of your scores sent directly from the testing agency. Transfer Applicants
In addition to completing the online application, you must also send official transcripts indicating attendance at any and all colleges, university and/or proprietary schools whether or not you are seeking transfer credit. Use the transcript request forms transmitted to you via your e-mail address.

You are also encouraged to meet with a member of the Admission Counseling staff to discuss transfer credits and any questions you have concerning your admission to Pace University.

Applicants should be aware that all documents submitted in support of an application for admission become the permanent possession of Pace University and will not be returned to the applicant.

Please be sure all of the information requested in this application is answered fully and correctly. Omission of colleges, universities, and/or proprietary schools attended or falsification of information will constitute grounds for rescinding offer of admission, disciplinary action and/or dismissal.

Admission Decision Notification
Pace University is on a modified rolling admission plan and the Admission Committee makes every effort to notify students of the admission decision in a timely fashion. The deadline for submission of application materials are March 1 for the fall semester and November 15 for the spring semester. It is best to apply early so that every consideration may be given to your application.

Early Action Plan (Fall Admission)
Pace University subscribes to the College Entrance Examination Board's first-choice Early Action Plan. Under this plan, applicants must submit all application materials prior to December 1 and must indicate EARLY ACTION on their online application.

Early Action applicants will be notified of their admission decision no later than December 20. Any applicant who is not accepted under Early Action will be reviewed, without bias, under the regular admission program.

Deferred Admission
An accepted student may defer his/her enrollment for up to one year as long as the student does not attend another post secondary institution during this time. (A student that attends another post secondary institution must file a new application for admission.) Requests for deferred admission should be made in writing to the Office of Undergraduate Admission. Students that receive this status must re-apply for academic scholarships, housing and financial aid.

Advanced Standing/Transfer Credit
CEEB Advanced Placement Program

Pace University is a participant in the Advanced Placement Program of the College Entrance Examination Board, which encourages able and ambitious students to take college-level courses while attending secondary school. Students who achieve satisfactory scores on the Advanced Placement Tests of the CEEB may request advanced placement. After reviewing the student's record and the test scores, the dean and the chairperson of the department concerned will determine the student's eligibility for advanced placement and/or the amount of credit granted toward the degree.

Students may gain advanced standing at Pace through the CEEB Advanced Placement Examinations. In general, students who score 3 or higher on an AP examination are granted college credit. The English and History departments only grant credit for a score of 4 or better.

International Baccalaureate / IB - Pace University also recognizes the demanding pre-university course of study involved with the IB. Students may gain advanced standing at Pace for higher level (HL) subjects.

International Applicants
In addition to steps listed above international applicants should follow the procedures listed below in order to complete the Pace University application process. An international student is defined by Pace as any student who will be entering the U.S. on a non-immigrant visa, including student, exchange student, diplomatic or dependent visa, to study at the University
  1. Submit all official transcripts, diplomas, and leaving examination scores from secondary school and post-secondary institutions. Transcripts are considered official only if they are sent directly to Pace from the educational institution of origin, or are certified as true copies by the student's Ministry of Education, or a U.S. consular office. Photocopies, facsimiles and notarized copies of academic records are not considered official and will not be accepted. Academic records issued in a language other than English are required to be translated and attested by the institution of origin or a pace approved translation agency.
  2. Transfer applicants must submit an official catalog or syllabus from each post-secondary school attended, in English, containing course descriptions and degree requirements in order to have transfer credits evaluated.
  3. Applicants whose native language is not English are advised to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). It is suggested that applicants receive a score of no lower than 550 (213 computer-based exam) in order to demonstrate the necessary English proficiency required for successful university studies. Official test scores should be sent directly from the testing agency to Pace University's Application Processing Center in Pleasantville.

Please note that all accepted students are required to take the University Placement Examination prior to registration. Students may be restricted to intensive English coursework for at least one semester, which may extend the length of time and cost to complete a degree.


STUDENT VISA INFORMATION
To receive a Form I-20 or DS2019 from Pace for obtaining an entry visa, the applicant must demonstrate that he or she has sufficient funds available to pay for tuition and living expenses for at least one year of study in the United States. Students must provide evidence of additional financial support of $5000 per year for a spouse and/or child that accompanies the students to the United States.

All applicants who will require a Pace University student visa must submit a Financial Affidavit for International Students which can be obtained by contacting the Application Processing Center at (914) 773-3746 or fax (914) 773-3851

All monies pledged on the Pace University Financial Affidavit for International Students Form must be verified. Monies can be verified in any one or more of the following ways:
  1. A bank letter on bank letterhead in English, which contains the applicant's or applicant's sponsor name, an account number, the amount of money in U.S. dollars, and the signature of a bank official;
  2. A letter of support from a sponsoring scholarship program, fellowship program, loan or grant organization.

Advanced Standing/College Credit from Secondary School
Some students may be eligible for advanced standing or limited transfer credit from secondary school. Please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admission for a complete listing of secondary school credentials that the University will consider for credit.

If you have taken college-level courses at a local college or university while attending high achool you may receive transfer credits. Please make sure you have an official college transcript sent to Pace.

Interviews, Campus Visits and Open House
All prospective students are strongly encouraged to visit Pace, tour the campus, attend classes and speak with faculty and students. The Admission Counseling staff is available to arrange an appointment and answer individual questions. We suggest that you contact us a week in advance of your intended visit. Open House programs are held each Fall on both campuses along with weekend information sessions throughout the year. Call the Office of Undergraduate Admission for dates and further information.
