The Gustavus financial assistance program reaches out to all students in two ways: financing options such as the
Guaranteed Cost Plan, and need-based financial assistance. Gustavus strives to meet your financial eligibility
through a combination of gift assistance and self-help aid. Financial Aid estimate forms are available from the
Admission Office and your eligibility will be calculated for you free of charge.
Students applying for need-based assistance must submit a FAFSA. Priority is given to those applicants who
submit the financial forms prior to April 15.
Eligible transfer students, like all eligible Gustavus students, receive grant/scholarship money as part of a financial
aid package. You may count on your financial aid package to remain consistent during your time at Gustavus,
contingent upon stability of your financial data, satisfactory academic standing, and your adherence to state and
federal guidelines.

housing and will receive information about choosing a residence hall from the Office of Residential Life. If you

You will have many resources to make your transition to Gustavus a smooth one. The Transfer Coordinator will
work with you individually until you arrive on campus and choose your faculty advisor. The Academic Advising
Center offers additional help in everything from personal time management and study skill development to
planning for graduate school. The Career Center staffs three full-time counselors to assist you in preparing for the
job market, whether you seek internship experience, resume evaluation or connection to the Gustavus alumni
network. Also, professionals are available for personal counseling in the Counseling Center.
If you transfer to Gustavus at the beginning of the academic year, an on-campus Orientation is held prior to the
start of classes. Many of the activities are useful to any incoming student becoming familiar with the campus and
its resources, and you are encouraged but not required to attend.
