Secondary School Report, School Recommendation, and Midyear Report
These forms should be given to the appropriate official in your secondary
school with the request that they be returned, along with the transcript of
credits from grades nine through the present, to the Office of Admission. The
Midyear Report form should be held to report your grades for the fall term of
your senior year. The Admission Committee finds the information on the Midyear
Report - as well as your current senior-year schedule - most helpful in
reaching a final decision regarding the many candidates applying for admission.
Please enter your full name, address, and school; then give the Midyear Report form to your college adviser or counselor. This record should be forwarded as soon as grades are available. You are responsible for giving these forms to your college counselor and being sure that they are sent to Emory.
A recommendation from a secondary school official (e.g., college adviser, guidance counselor) is required. Up to two additional recommendations are welcomed but not required.
Test Scores
All applicants are required to submit scores from the Scholastic Assessment
Test (SAT-I) or the American College Test (ACT). SAT-II is not required, but
the Admission Committee encourages applicants who take SAT-II examinations to
submit the scores to Emory. Application forms for the tests may be obtained
from your high school counselor or directly from the testing center. Emory's
College Entrance Examination Board (CEEB)/SAT college code number is 5187; the ACT code number is 0810. Students
who do not speak English as a first language are encouraged to submit a Test of
English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
score.

First Year Housing
All first-year students are required to live on campus and are guaranteed
housing in university residence halls. Exceptions are made for students living
in Atlanta with relatives. Applications for housing and details concerning
rental rates and accommodations will be mailed to accepted students in the
spring. A residence hall reservation will be confirmed only upon receipt of
the completed housing application, which will be mailed to accepted students in
the decision letter packet. When campus
housing is assigned, $100 of the $350 admission deposit will serve as
a housing deposit and remain on file as long as the student remains in
university housing.
Early Decision
Students who have selected Emory as their first choice and who wish to receive
an admission decision early in the year may choose one of two early decision
options. The early decision plans are binding. You may apply to only one
school early decision, and you are expected to enroll at Emory if accepted,
provided you are offered adequate financial aid as determined by the financial
aid office (if needed). If attendance
at Emory is contingent upon receiving a merit scholarship, do not choose
early-decision options. Final Emory Scholar selections are made after
early-decision deposit deadlines.
November 1 | Application Deadline |
December 15 | Admission decisions mailed |
January 15 | Early decision round one deposit deadline |
January 1 | Application deadline |
February 1 | Admission decisions mailed |
February 15 | Early decision round two deposit deadline |
Both early decision rounds are binding. Admitted candidates must respond to offers by mailing a $350 deposit to Emory by the reply date for the round under which they are applying. This is a tuition, housing, and orientation deposit and is not refundable. Early decision students who decide to enroll at Emory must withdraw all other college applications at the time of deposit. Candidates may be accepted, deferred to regular decision, or denied.
Emory Scholars (merit-based
scholarships)
Requires separate nomination from high school counselor. (If you elect
this plan, all standardized testing must be completed by November 15.)
November 15 Application Deadline
Regular Decision
Candidates should apply in the fall of their senior year but not
later than January 15. (If you elect this plan, all standardized testing must
be completed by January 1.)
January 15th | Application deadline |
April 1 | Admission decisions mailed |
May 1 | Regular decision deposit deadline |
All candidates who wish to enroll at Emory must respond to offers of admission by mailing a $350 deposit to the Office of Admission. This is a tuition, housing, and orientation deposit and is not refundable. Regular decision applicants may be admitted, referred to the Oxford College campus, waitlisted, or denied.
Early Admission
Academically exceptional students who wish to enter college after completing
the eleventh grade may apply for early admission. Candidates are
expected to complete all requirements of regular admission and meet the same
standards of eligibility. Candidates must take the SAT or ACT prior to
the application deadline. A personal interview is highly recommended for
Early Admission candidates.
Joint Enrollment
This admission plan serves Atlanta-area students who wish to take
college courses at Emory while jointly enrolled in high school. These students
usually have completed the junior year in secondary school and must
follow the same admission procedures and deadlines as candidates for regular
admission (see above). Candidates must take the SAT or ACT prior to the
application deadline. Joint-enrollment students are limited to one class per
academic semester.
Emory realizes that most families may find it necessary to seek financial assistance to enroll a student in Emory College. Emory is a member of the College Scholarship Service and awards financial assistance on the basis of demonstrated need.
Application Process for Programs Based on Need
The College Scholarship Service PROFILE and the Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA) are required of all applicants for need-based
assistance from Emory. These forms provide us with essential information about your
family's financial picture and enable us to offer you the assistance for which
you are eligible.
Guidelines for filing the PROFILE and FAFSA:
**You must be nominated for the Emory Scholars program. (See above for details.) |
Notification of Financial Aid Awards
Financial aid decisions are made after candidates are admitted. Candidates for
the first-year class will receive aid decisions after they are admitted and the
financial aid file is complete.
Further questions concerning the financial aid program should be directed to:

aid review.
International Applicants
If you are an international applicant, please be advised that you must be able
to verify the requisite funding for your educational expenses while at Emory.
You may contact the Office of Admission to obtain the appropriate forms. In
addition, please instruct your financial institution to forward documentation
as to moneys available - i.e., bank statements or letters of financial
verification. The documentation is required due to U.S. Immigration and
Naturalization Service regulations concerning student visas (F-1). You must
submit the necessary forms to the Office of Admission in order to be eligible
to register for courses if admitted. Only citizens and eligible permanent residents can receive federal and
institutional financial aid.
