Admission to undergraduate
studies is based on a careful review of all credentials presented on behalf of a
candidate. An application for admission is not given final consideration until all the
required items have been submitted. Under no circumstances can the University guarantee
that the applicant will be admitted. Supporting Documents
To speed up the application process, the following supporting documents must be submitted
with the application form.
- Application fee of $40 (U.S.) will be paid on-line via Mastercard, Visa, or electronic
check on a secure server upon submission of the application.
- Proof of Canadian citizenship (and Québec residency, if applicable); immigration status
- Official transcripts in sealed envelopes (non-cégep and North American institutions
only)
- Cégep applicants: student copy of your cégep transcript
Criteria for Selection
Academic Performance
Concordia accepts students with a wide variety of academic backgrounds. Admission is
competitive and decisions are based on a holistic assessment of the applicants
dossier and are subject to the availability of places in particular programs.
Academic performance indicators are listed in the faculty section
of this guide. These minimum cut-offs should be used as indicators as they may vary based
on the application pool in a given year.
Special Requirements
Selection to many programs is also based on additional requirements. See Admissions
Requirements section of each program.

Cégep Students
The "Cote de Rendement au Collégial" or CRC is a method of comparing and
ranking applicants from cégep. Rather than using the actual grade a student receives, the
CRC measures how far above or below the class average a student is, with adjustments based
on the relative strength of the student within the group.
Concordia receives a CRC for each academic course a student has
completed and calculates the average CRC to three decimal places. The CRC ranges from
0-50, with 25 being average.
At Concordia, the CRC is used to determine cut-offs for students
applying to competitive programs. Files for students who do not meet the CRC cut-offs are
given a holistic review to determine if there are any extenuating circumstances which
might have adversely affected an otherwise acceptable record.
Early Action Plan:
Students who wish to file an application for Early Action must submit a complete
application with appropriate supporting documents by February 1.
This plan is for:
- Students from other Canadian provinces and the U.S.A.
- Open and limited-enrolment programs in Arts and Science; Commerce Administration;
Engineering and Computer Science
- Programs that do not have special and additional requirements such as interviews,
auditions, and portfolio.
Conditional Admission
If you are seeking admission to an undergraduate program, you may be granted
conditional acceptance on the basis of your records of study to date. Such records should
include your mid-year results for the current year. However, final admission is contingent
upon successful completion of your final term or semester of study and satisfaction of
prescribed academic admission requirements. Candidates granted early conditional admission
for the Fall Term are, in general, notified between May 15 and June 15. Cégep candidates
are normally notified by May 15.
Admissions
Confirmation Deposit
If you have been granted admission to full-time studies, or to part-time studies in a
quota or limited-enrolment program, you are required to submit a cheque or money order for
$40 (U.S.) payable to Concordia University to confirm your intention to enter the
University. This admission confirmation deposit is non-refundable but will be applied
towards your tuition fees at the University. If you do not submit your confirmation
deposit by the date specified, your acceptance will normally be CANCELLED. If you
receive a conditional acceptance based on your mid-year results and are subsequently
refused admission because you have not completed the minimum academic requirements for
admission, your confirmation deposit will be refunded.
Registration
In most cases, you will receive complete registration information along with your letter
of acceptance to Concordia. The majority of undergraduate students register for both the
upcoming Fall and Winter Terms as soon as they become eligible. The major benefit of
registering early is that course and section availability is at its maximum. Most students
will be able to register for all of their courses by touch-tone telephone using CARL, the
Concordia Automated Response Line.
