In all the Canadian provinces a
basic qualification for financial aid is that you be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent
Resident with one years residence excluding the period spent in full-time studies
and domiciled in the province to which you are applying. NOTE: Applications for
government loan and aid plans should be made as soon as possible. Do not wait to be
admitted to start this process.
Québec
The Province of Québec has an extensive program of student loans and bursaries. For
applications contact the Financial Aid and Awards Office.
Disability
Students who are deemed Québec residents may apply for a bursary if they suffer from a
major functional disability. For application and medical certificates, please contact the
Financial Aid and Awards Office.
Ontario
You can apply for O.S.A.P. through Concordia University. Forms are available at the
Financial Aid and Awards Office.
Other Provinces
For the provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland,
Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Saskatchewan, a limited quantity of application
packages are available from the Financial Aid and Awards Office.
United States Students
Students attending a university outside the United States may apply for a Higher Education
Loan Plan loan through their home town bank. These forms must be sent to Concordia
University to be completed. They should be sent to the Financial Aid and Awards Office.
Financial Aid for International Students
Scholarships, bursaries and loans are generally not available to International students.
Therefore, students on a student visa who require financial aid should contact their own
government department of education to determine what financial assistance may be available
to them through the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) or other agencies.

Exemptions from Differential Fees
The government of Québec has agreements for granting a limited number of exemptions from
differential fees for International students from the following countries: Algeria,
Argentina, Belgium, Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroun, Central African
Republic, Chad, China, Colombia, Comoros, Congo, Costa Rica, Djibouti, Ecuador, Egypt,
Gabon, Germany, Guinea, Haiti, Honduras, Iran, Israel, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Korea, Lebanon,
Madagascar, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mexico, Morocco, Niger, Panama, Peru, Rwanda,
Senegal, Togo, Tunisia, Uruguay, Vietnam.
Inquiries and application for an exemption should be made directly to the
students own Ministry of Education prior to leaving his or her home country. In some
cases, when the person is living in Canada, it may be possible to apply for the exemption
at his or her Embassy or Consulate in Canada or the United States.
