Admissions Checklist for International Graduate Students
  1. Submit a completed International Graduate Student Admission Application. Your choices to submit an application include:

    1. Complete the online International Graduate Student Admission Application following these instructions. Submit your application electronically along with the $35.00 application fee, payable also electronically with your credit card.
    2. If you are unable to pay electronically with a credit card, please complete the following application, print a paper copy of the application and mail it with the $35.00 fee and required documents to SCSU.
    3. Write, call, or e-mail the School of Graduate Studies to request an application packet be mailed to you.

  2. Request that one official copy of all your educational transcripts and records, from all institutions previously attended, be sent directly to the School of Graduate Studies. This includes all colleges, universities or technical/polytechnic schools you have attended or are currently attending.

    1. Transcripts must be stamped or sealed by school officials issuing the document.
    2. If the language of the records is not in English, a certified translation must be included with the official transcript.
    3. Un-verified photocopies and hand carried copies will not be accepted.

  3. Submit required entrance test scores.

    1. Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is required for the M.B.A. program.
    2. Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is required for all other master's programs, for the sixth year program, the specialist degree and the GIS certificate.
    3. The GMAT and GRE examinations are also available on the St. Cloud State University campus through the Testing Center. For further information or to schedule a date to take these computerized tests please call 320-308-5456.

  4. English Proficiency: An English proficiency test is required of international applicants whose native language is not English. There are two exceptions:

    1. Students who hold a baccalaurate degree with a 2.75 cumulative GPA or higher, from an English-speaking university will be exempt from having to submit an English proficiency test score. These students will still need to take the SCSU English Placement Test upon arrival.
    2. International students who have completed SCSU's Intensive English Center Level 5 program will be exempt.
    For all other applicants, SCSU requires that one of the following language admission requirements be met:
    1. A Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 550 paper-based, or 213 computer-based.
    2. A score of 80 on the Michigan Placement Test with a cover letter from the testing institution.

  5. Submit three letters of recommendation. (View and Print).

  6. Computer Science majors must submit a Supplemental Admission Evaluation Form. (View and Print).

  8. Submit a completed SCSU Financial Statement verifying evidence of adequate funding to meet all expenses that will be incurred during your time at SCSU. Found here: Financial Statement

    1. The financial documentation must be original or certified by bank stamp and signature.
    2. All your supporting financial documents such as bank statements MUST be mailed.

    When all official materials have been received in the School of Graduate Studies, your admission file will be sent to the department for review. An admission recommendation will be made at the departmental level, and then it will be returned to the School of Graduate Studies' dean for final review. A letter will be mailed to you of the decision.
