Admission to Concordia College is based on the personal and academic qualifications of the applicant. All available information is considered, including the difficulty of the curriculum, grades, rank, quality of the school, recommendations, test scores, essay, interview, grade trends and general contributions to school, church and community. The criteria are designed to identify a student body with high academic standards, integrity and serious educational and personal goals. More information about admission policies can be found in the college catalog.

the application process First - Year (Freshmen) Students
Applicants to be First-Year (Freshman) students may apply under either Early or Regular Decision. There are advantages to both programs. Early Decision allows students to have the entire college selection process wrapped up by January 1. It works well for students who know that Concordia is one of their top choices. Regular Decision allows students to compare the offerings at Concordia with other college choices. Students should choose the application program that best serves their needs.

Early Decision: Under the Early Decision (ED) program, students apply for admission by November 15 and are notified of their admission decision on December 1. Students not granted admission under ED will be automatically reconsidered for the Regular Decision program beginning January 15. Accepted ED students must send their $300 non-refundable deposit by December 31. At that time, they must agree to withdraw applications made to other colleges and not to apply to any other schools.

Regular Decision: Under the Regular Decision (RD) program, students apply for admission by the March 15 application deadline. (Applications submitted after March 15 will be subject to space limitations.) Regular decisions are sent beginning January 15 and will continue on a rolling basis until the class is filled. After receiving notice, accepted students should send their non-refundable $300 admission deposit as soon as possible, but no later than May 1. Students who send deposits after May 1 will be subject to space limitations.

documents to submit First - Year (Freshmen) Students
1. A completed application form
2. An official high school transcript
3. SAT I or ACT scores
4. School Report Form (part of the application form)
5. $30 application fee payable online via secure server at time of submission

A written personal statement and admission interview are optional, but strongly recommended. These options give applicants the chance to "go beyond the numbers" and address goals, strengths, weaknesses and/or convictions. On occasion, applicants may be specifically requested to write a personal statement or interview to supplement the required information.

Transfer Students
A transfer is a student who has earned at least 12 credits as a full-time student at another college. Transfer students should apply by July 1. Applications submitted after July 1 will be subject to space limitations. Transfer students should submit the same documents as first-year students (listed above), in addition to the following:
1. Official transcripts from all colleges and universities previously attended
2. SAT or ACT scores if they have earned fewer than 28 college credits.
3. $30 application fee payable online via secure server at time of submission.

International Students
International students should apply by the appropriate deadline as listed above for freshmen and transfers. If documents are not in English, both the original and a certified, literal translation should be included.

Applicants should supply the same documents as above (as appropriate for a freshman or transfer student) plus the following:
1 . Official academic records (or certified copies) from all secondary schools and universities attended. Records must include the subjects studied, grades/marks attained, and an explanation of the grading system;
2 . External examination results (such as "A-Levels", CXC’s, or Baccalaureat), and school leaving certificates.
3 . TOEFL results (the SAT I may be submitted in place of TOEFL by students whose native language is English). Concordia’s CEEB code is 2096;
4 . A completed Application for Form I-20, provided by Concordia College.
5 . $30 application fee payable online via secure server at time of submission.

financial aid, and scholarships Concordia College strives to make it possible for all accepted students to attend. The College offers a comprehensive financial aid program that includes a variety of grants, entitlements, scholarships, loans and on-campus employment.
    For the 2001-2002 school year:
  • 95% of Concordia students received financial aid
  • the average financial aid award was about $12,500
  • the average grant and scholarship aid was $8,600

When applying for financial aid at Concordia, all sources of aid including federal, state and institutional sources are considered.

  • International students can be considered for partial tuition scholarships in academics, athletics and music. A Concordia aid form is available in place of the FAFSA from the Admission Office.
  • When should you apply for aid? As soon after January 1 as possible; students completing the process by March 15 are given priority.
  • Early Decision students should file a financial aid estimate form with the application.
Financial Aid Estimates
College cost is a concern for many families. As such, Concordia will provide an estimate of the financial aid you would receive. These estimates are available between October 1 and January 31, and require the family to complete a brief form. For more information about estimates or to receive an estimate form, please call the Admission Office.

Early Decision and Financial Aid Awards
Since Early Decision requires a commitment before one can officially apply for financial aid, an ED student can learn about financial aid by filing a financial aid estimator with the application for admission. These estimates are quite accurate and ED students can commit based upon the results. You must still file the FAFSA after January 1 to receive your official award.

NOTE: Award amounts to ED students are the same as to students who apply through the Regular Decision program.

How do you Apply for Aid?
1 . Apply for admission and be accepted to the College.
2 . Accurately complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Concordia’s code is 002709. (Transfers only) Submit a Financial Aid Transcript from the college or university most recently attended, even if no financial aid was received.

A financial aid award will be sent within three weeks of the time that these documents are received.

Scholarships
Concordia offers scholarships recognizing excellence in academics, athletics, music and leadership within the church. They range in amounts from $1,000 to $9,000. A listing of scholarships and other financial aid can be found in the Concordia Scholarship and Financial Aid Brochure, available from the Office of Admission.
