GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLICANTS
We look forward to evaluating your completed application to Butler
University. Please read these instructions carefully before you complete your
application. Submit the following items to apply for admissions:

The enclosed Application for Transfer Admission
and Scholarships.
- An official transcript from each college or university attended must
be mailed directly from the issuing institution.
- An official high school transcript or GED certificate.
- A non-refundable application fee of $25. (Paid on-line upon
submission of the application.) This fee is waived for applicants who have
parents, grandparents or siblings who graduated from or are currently attending
Butler.
- A personal essay as described on the application (included in the
on-line application).
- Additional requirements (exams, auditions, course syllabi) for
specific
programs and for international students are listed below.
The University will not accept photocopies or facsimile (fax) copies of
any official documents required as part of the application process.
EARLY ADMISSION PROGRAMS
Butler University offers two Early Admission Programs for transfer students that allow students
to take advantage of benefits by following certain guidelines. These benefits are available to
students majoring in the Jordan College of Fine Arts (JCFA), the College of Education and the
College of Business Administration.
Early Admission I

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ADMISSION
In addition to the items listed above, international applicants must
submit the following:
-
Academic records (transcripts) in their original language along with an
official English translation
-
Official results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL),
unless their native language is English or you already have received a
baccalaureate or equivalent degree from a regionally accredited university
where English is the first language.

Official results of the Test of Spoken English (TSE/P) for students wishing
to major in pharmacy or the physician assistant program
-
Proof of financial support for educational and living expenses while at
Butler University. The documents required are official bank statements
and affidavits of support from all sponsors. Visa documents will not be
issued until the University is assured that the annual costs can be met.
Upon admission, visa documents will be issued through the Office of
International
Affairs.

international

ADMISSION TO THE COLLEGE OF PHARMACY AND HEALTH
SCIENCES
PHARMACY APPLICANTS
The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences offers a six-year Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D). Students interested in transferring
into the program may apply to enter:
- the pre-professional phase (first two years) or
- the professional phase (third year) of the program.
Transfer students admitted to the pre-professional phase are required to reapply
for admission into the professional phase of the program upon completion
of the prerequisite courses.
Eligibility:
Transfer admission into the pharmacy program is limited to students
who have studied at regionally accredited schools in the United States
and have less than a bachelor's degree.
International students with a bachelor's degree in pharmacy from a foreign
university are also eligible to apply. Applicants for the professional
phase of the program must meet the pre-professional phase prerequisites
to be considered.
Application deadlines:

Pre-professional phase: applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Professional phase: applications are accepted for fall entry only and priority will be given to applicants who
apply by Feb 15.
Additional Requirements:
In addition to the application, transcripts, application fee and essay
(see general information) all applicants applying for the professional phase must submit
official results of the Pharmacy
College Admission Test (PCAT). To register for the PCAT, contact the
Psychological
Corporation at (800) 622-3231.
PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT APPLICANTS
The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences offers a bachelor of science
in health sciences (major: physician assistant). The physician assistant
(PA) curriculum consists of
- a two-year pre-professional phase and
- a two-year, plus one summer, professional (clinical) phase, beginning in the fall semester only.
The clinical component
consists of rotations in all major medical disciplines.
Eligibility
Applicants for the professional phase of the program must:

have a cumulative grade point average from all college coursework of 2.75
or higher on a 4-point scale, and
-
have met the pre-professional phase prerequisites or have no more than
two pre-professional courses remaining to take in the summer prior to the
fall semester of enrollment (excluding PE 101 and 102)
Application deadlines
-
Pre-professional phase: applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Professional phase (priority): applications must be submitted by Oct.
15 for fall semester only. Students who submit a complete
application by this priority date will receive
a preliminary advising audit sheet in December
so that spring semester scheduling changes can be made if needed to meet
prerequisites.

Professional phase (regular): applications must be post-marked by Dec.
1 for fall semester entry.
Additional Requirements
In addition to the application, transcripts, application fee and essay
(see general information) all applicants applying to the professional phase
must submit course syllabi for microbiology, immunology, statistical methods, human anatomy and human
ADMISSION TO THE JORDAN COLLEGE OF FINE
ARTS
All applicants indicating a major in dance, music or theatre
must complete the following:

The Application for Transfer Admission and Scholarships.
-
A Jordan College of Fine Arts (JCFA) dance, music, or theatre application.
- An audition in the primary major.
An application, information on talent awards, fall and spring audition dates, and guidelines will be
mailed to all interested students. Students must apply for admission before an audition can be scheduled.
EVALUATION OF TRANSFER CREDITS
Butler accepts transfer course work earned with a grade of "C" or higher from regionally accredited colleges or universities. The preliminary advising audit (PAA) specifically identifies how completed transfer course work may apply to a Butler degree program. A PAA will be sent to admitted student with their offer of admission. The audit does not include course work in progress or planned before enrollment at Butler. However, the audit will be updated when official transcripts of additional course work are received. A student who has fewer then 12 hours of transfer credit will be required to meet the criteria as defined for freshman admission, in addition to the transfer requirements. The applicant may be required to submit a course syllabus or course description in order for a course to be evaluated.
PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT AND PHARMACY PROGRAM APPLICANTS FOR THE PROFESSIONAL PHASE
An evaluation of transfer credit is completed for applicants under review for admission to the professional phase of the pharmacy or physician assistant programs. If the evaluation of transfer credits concludes that an applicant has met or is on track to meet the program prerequisites, the Office of Admission will send the applicant the PAA. Applicants who have not met the prerequisites will be considered for admission into the pre-professional phase if the student indicated an interest in the pre-professional program on the Application for Transfer Admission and Scholarships.
CAMPUS HOUSING
Campus housing is available for all full time students. Housing forms are mailed to all admitted students by the Office of Student Affairs. Information concerning housing may be obtained from the Office of Student Affairs, whose phone number is listed on the following page.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Butler University offers a variety of programs to help you and your family afford a Butler education. These programs may include scholarships, grants, talent awards, educational loans, student employment and other financing options made available through federal, state and institutional sources.
- Free Application for Federal Students Aid (FAFSA)
- Butler University Application for Financial Assistance (BUAP)
Priority consideration for all need-based gift assistance is given to students who:
- are admitted to Butler by March 1, and
- file both the FAFSA and BUAP by March 1, and
- complete their financial aid file by May 1.
After these dates, eligibility for gift assistance is subject to the availability of funds.
A complete information packet on financial assistance will be sent to you after you have applied for admission.
TRANSFER ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS
- Scholarships are available to students majoring in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Education and Business Administration.
- Awards are based on both university and high school academic performance.
- Awards are renewable for a maximum of four additional semesters.
- Phi theta Kappa members are eligible for an additional award.
