INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR TRANSFER APPLICANTS

DEADLINES
On your application, please indicate the semester in which you wish to enroll, and observe the appropriate deadlines:

     * A decision cannot be made until credentials are complete; applicants should check to assure that all materials have been received by the Office of Admissions. In some cases decisions may be deferred until the results of the current semester are received and evaluated.

  * * A decision announced by the Office of Admissions before the normal notification date may require an earlier reply and deposit; however, extensions may be requested and are frequently granted. No reply/deposit is required before the applicant is sent the Preliminary Evaluation of Credits from the Registrar's Office at Bucknell.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES
  1. An official transcript from each college attended.
  2. An official secondary school transcript (high school record). If you applied to Bucknell as a first-year candidate, please indicate the year of first-year application. Your records may be on file and may be retrieved.
  3. Results of the Scholastic Aptitude Tests (SAT) of the College Entrance Examination Board. Bucknell will accept scores recorded on the high school transcript, but the applicant is responsible for assuring that the scores are reported. SAT results may be waived for candidates who completed their secondary education ten or more years ago.
  4. A Letter of Recommendation for Transfer Admission (Form C) completed by the Dean of Students.
  5. A $60.00 application fee must accompany your transfer application. If you applied to Bucknell as a prospective first-year student, the $60.00 fee need not be resubmitted.
  6. A recommendation from a professor endorsing a candidate is encouraged but not required. Please feel free to supply additional information supporting your candidacy.
  7. A Transfer Credit Summary Sheet which will be mailed to the applicant with the acknowledgement of the application fee and which must be returned at that time.
  8. A catalog from each college attended is required by the Registrar's Office for completion of the Evaluation of Credits. If a catalog is unattainable, you may copy and send to the Office of Admissions pages of the catalog containing course descriptions, degree requirements, and explanations of credit and grading systems. An evaluation of transfer credits follows a formal letter of acceptance.
  9. Please notify the Office of Admissions immediately if your plans change and you decide to withdraw your application.
We urge you to read the catalog carefully, particularly the sections describing the prerequisites and typical course load and schedule of different degree programs. It is economically impractical to send a full catalog to every student inquiring about transfer. We ask that you visit the Office of the Registrar at your college, or the library, and make use of the Bucknell catalog that should be on file. If a copy of the Bucknell catalog is not available to you, please have the Registrar or Librarian request one from this office, and one will be sent immediately. You may also access the Bucknel catalog online at www.bucknell.edu
