Each applicant is responsible for seeing that the Office of Admission receives all required admission materials by the appropriate deadline. A complete admission title will include:
$35 application fee (payable online via secure server at time of submission)
Official secondary school transcript, sent directly from the school, or home school profile
Two academic recommendations (forms downloaded from web)
Official standardized test scores: SAT (code #6016) or ACT (code #4058)
SAT and ACT scores are considered official if recorded on an official school transcript or sent directly to Austin College from a testing agency.
Students who decide that Austin College is clearly their first college choice may elect to apply under the Early Decision plan for admission. They are required to visit campus and to have an admission interview by December 15.
If admitted, early decision applicants pledge that they will enroll at Austin College and will withdraw immediately all applications for admission submitted to other colleges. Parents must sign the early decision pledge as well to verify their understanding of its terms. In return for this binding commitment, early decision applicants receive first consideration for admission, housing, and for those scholarships which do not require a special application and/or nomination. Students may request an early assessment of their financial aid eligibility. If not satisfied with the estimate of their financial aid, students may request to be reclassified as Rolling Admission applicants. The deadline for reclassification without penalty is February 10.
If not admitted under this plan, Early Decision applicants maybe given an opportunity to update their admission file in order to be reconsidered for admission as an Early Action II applicant.
Students who wish to receive priority consideration for admission and scholarship should complete their application by December 1 (Early Action I) or January 15 (Early Action II). Notification of admission status will be mailed two to four weeks following each deadline. Payment of the $300 matriculation deposit for Early Action applicants (refundable until May 1) is encouraged within 30 days from the date of admission.
Applications received after January 15 will be reviewed as the admission files for students are completed. The recommended deadline is March 1. These applicants are subject to space availability. Notification of admission status typically will be made by April 1 or within two to four weeks of completion of the file.
Transfer applicants are considered throughout the year on a rolling admission basis, and students will be notified of admission decisions as applications are completed. Please note that the recommended deadlines are January 15 for the Spring semester and August 1 for the Fall semester.
Transfer applicants should submit the same credentials as those required of freshmen, plus an official transcript sent directly from each college or university attended. Applicants with less than a full year of transferable academic credit are required to submit their final high school transcript or G.E.D. and either a SAT or an ACT score. A maximum of 68 credit hours may be transferred from accredited two-year or four-year institutions.
Austin College accepts applications from high school juniors seeking Early Admission. The college welcomes such applications with the understanding that successful candidates display a high degree of social maturity and present strong academic credentials. An interview and a letter of recommendation from a parent or guardian are required in addition to standard admission materials.
Competitive scholarships and need-based aid (grants, loans, and employment) are awarded by the Office of Financial Aid. Students interested in need-based financial aid should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and an Austin College Application for Financial Aid as soon as possible after January 1.
All students who are admitted to Austin College are automatically reviewed for general scholarship consideration - no separate scholarship application is required. The following scholarships require separate application/nomination forms and may be requested from the Office of Admission.
