Policies Governing High School Student Enrollment as Non-Degree Undergraduate Status for Online Credit Courses

Enrollment in the Division of Continuing and International Education includes students who are not seeking a degree and meet the requirements as noted in each category.
Conditions Applying to Continuing Education Enrollment
Enrollment in a non-degree program and/or satisfactory completion of courses does not imply admission to a degree program.
- Student may enroll for a maximum of 12 credits per semester.
- Grade point average of 2.5 must be maintained after 12 credits have been attempted or student will be dismissed.
- No more than 30 credits completed in non-degree status may be applied toward an undergraduate degree.
- Courses taken for undergraduate credit (including 500 level courses) will not be considered for graduate credit at a later date.
- Previous academic credit earned will not be evaluated until degree seeking admission is requested.
- According to academic regulations, a person dismissed or rejected from the University of Miami may not enroll for one calendar year.
- Student previously enrolled in a degree seeking status at the University of Miami is not eligible to enroll as non-degree seeking status until they have earned an undergraduate degree.
High School Students (CSE9)
Students who are high school juniors or seniors may apply for enrollment in the Division of Continuing and International Education. Students must submit the following:
- Completed non-degree application
- Recommendation from high school principal or counselor on school letterhead verifying 3.5 GPA and transcript
- Written permission from parent(s)/guardian(s)
- Copy of standardized test scores (if applicable)
NOTE: Students whose native language is not English are required to supply documentation of the TEOFL exam meeting one of the following scores:
PBT: 550
CBT: 213
iBT: 59
