Instructions for Ph.D.in Pastoral Counseling or M.S./Ph.D. Combination Programs:

Completing Your Application

A complete application is one that includes the following documents:
  • Completed Application Form, completed online and submitted with online payment of non-refundable fee of $50
  • Official transcripts from each college or university attended
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Six recommendations (professional references only)
  • Clinical Summary Form
  • Graduate Record Examination scores
  • TOEFL Score Report (required only if English is not your native language)
  • International student supplemental documents (required only if you need a student visa)
    Transcripts from studies not conducted in English must be submitted with a certified English translation.
Note: An interview is required of all applicants for admission.


Inventory Listing

  • Curriculum vitae
  • Recommendations in sealed envelopes
  • Clinical Summary Form
  • Graduate Record Examination scores
  • TOEFL Score Report -- required only if English is not your native language (send unofficial scores with application and official scores must be sent directly from testing agency. Loyola's institution code is 5370.)
  • International Student Supplemental Form -- required only if you need a student visa

If applying for advanced standing (applicants with a master's degree in a related counseling field):

  • All graduate course syllabi from counseling courses An audio or video of current client
  • A clinical write-up of current client All clinical evaluations (practica, internships, etc.)

Priority Deadlines

Ph.D. -- February 1
M.S./Ph.D Combined Program -- February 1*
M.A., M.S., C.A.S. -- April 1* for Summer Terms and Fall Semester, November 1* for Spring Semester

Note: No action can be taken on your application for admission until all required materials, fees, and transcripts are received.

* Priority Deadlines: Applications that are received by the priority deadline are reviewed for the upcoming term; applications that arrive after the priority deadline will be reviewed on a space-available basis.
